Drones with Sensor Swarms to Study Hurricanes and Tornados
This invention concept is like the studies first conducted in the film Twister, in which micro balls with sensors were deployed into hurricanes from a truck. These drones would carry much more sophisticated sensors into hurricanes and tornadoes, at different points along their route, including at sea and on land, to study them. There would be drones to deploy the sensors, which the sensors would be carefully deployed within the moving body of wind, to gather data of the entire body of wind, and there would be sensors to pickup or gather the sensors afterwards, off the ground and in the water. The sensors would have GPS capabilities, and would have various types of sensors within them, such as temperature, accelerometers, altimeters, barometers, etc.
The deployment drone would be able to deploy just one sensor at a time, or a group of a number of sensors at a time, for example, if necessary. The gathering drone would have the ability to use an arm to pickup a sensor if it is underneath something else. The sensors would float on the top of a body of water.
